The Rivers State Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday stayed away from an interactive forum to assess the performance of Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike in his first 100 days in office.

The interactive forum, which was organized by the Federated Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Rivers State, had the President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Emeka Unachukwu, as the moderator.

Panelists at the forum were the Vice Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Uche Agbam and the President of the Rivers Economic and Investment Forum (REIF), Ibifuro Bob-manuel.

TheLedgerng learnt that the State government was to be represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, while the PDP was to be represented by the Special Adviser to its State

chairman on Media, Pastor Jerry Needam.

Both Inko-Tariah and Needam were expected to make presentations at the forum, tagged, "100 days of Governor Wike: Assessments and Expectations", the former however sent in a list of 15 projects he claimed to have been completed by the governor in his first 100 days in office.

Earlier in his presentation, the state publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chris Finebone, scored Wike low in performance in his first 100 days in office.

Finebone said all the projects listed by the governor as his achievements were projects that were about 90% completed by the immediate past administration of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

The position of the APC scribe was countered by the Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Hyginus Chika Onuegbu, who said it would be difficult to assess an administration with just 100 days in office.

Onuegbu commended Wike for the rehabilitation of Eleme-Onne axis of the East-West Road, the Operation Zero Potholes in Port Harcourt metropolis and the payment of bulk of April and May salaries of civil servants in the state.

He however expressed displeasure over the sack of staff of the Rivers State Traffic Management Agency (TIMARIV) as well as the newly recruited staff of the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori.

Dr. Gomba Obari of the University of Port Harcourt, in his own presentation scored the governor high in the education sector with the payment of the fees of students of the state studying overseas, and the completion of the Faculty of Law building in the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
