The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday said it had arrested one Sunday Ewaranwon alleged to have 150 kegs of 50 litres of petroleum products.
The Lagos State Commandant of the corps, Mr Grabriel Abafi, made the allegation while speaking with journalists.
Abafi said that the suspect, 30, was arrested by a marine team of the Anti-Vandal Unit of NSCDC at about 10.30 p.m. on Aug. 28.
``The product which was loaded in a wooden boat powered with 30-horsepower engine at a creek around Ikorodu was intercepted at
Ijora area of Lagos.
``The kegs were packaged in such a way that portrays that they are proceeds from vandalised petroleum pipelines.
``When it was converted to litres, it amounted to 7,700 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) product.
``And with the current pump price of petrol, he is having with him about N669, 900 worth of PMS in one illegal trip,’’ Abafi said.
Abafi also said that another 33 empty extra kegs of 50 litres each were also found with him, adding that his partner named Godbless was on the run.
