The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed a 2.5 million dollar sponsorship deal with fast food giant Burger King for the next five years.
The sponsorship is expected to fund youth development through the national Under-17 team which leaves for Chile on Tuesday to take part in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
The sponsorship will also fund the Under-19 Inter-Provincial tournament and the Under-20 Men’s National Team.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Cape Town this weekend, Burger King chairperson Hassen Adams said his company was inspired by former President
Nelson Mandela’s vision of promoting youth development in all walks of life.
SAFA President Danny Jordaan thanked the company for its philosophy of developing the youth in order to build a better future.
``Go and represent us well at the World Cup. You have the backing of the entire country and now this new injection must propel you to scale the heights at the global showpiece,’’ he told the junior squad
