Rep. Henry Nwawuba (PDP-Mbaitoli/Ikeduru), Imo, on Saturday assured his constituents of effective representation and fair share of the national cake.
Nwawuba gave the assurance in a statement to thank his people for their support during March 28 election and the duration of his election tribunal case instituted against him by the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement by, Mr Isidore Chukwuemeka, his media assistance, made available to journalists in Owerri, the lawmaker said he was humbled by the outpour of love and support by his constituents.
Nwawuba assured the people that in spite of being PDP member he would ensure that they get their fair share of the national cake.
On the recent validation of his victory by the court of appeal, Nwawuba said that the decision of the court shows that Nigeria judiciary still have men and women of impeccable character.
The appeal court sitting in Owerri on Tuesday Oct. 13 upturned the decision of election tribunal.
The appellate court headed by Justice J. C. Ige after reviewing the appeal filed by Nwawuba ruled that the lower tribunal acted in error by hearing petition filed by Mr Bathram Okafor of the APC.
Ige noted that without front-loading the scores in the election and making the score of the said election a major issue, Okafor erred and therefore ordered that the petition be struck out for lacking in merit.
Nwawuba stated the appellate court had authenticated the support of his people in their choice.
He hinted that his lawyers had served the judgment of the appellate court to the lower tribunal headed by Justice W. F. Akanbi.
He explained that with the appeal court judgment served on the tribunal below, we no longer expect any other judgment.
He, however, called on the people of the constituency to continue to support his programmes to improve on the living standard of people of the area.
