President of the Para-soccer Federation of Nigeria (PFN) Miassbahu Lawan-Didi said on Sunday in Abuja that this year’s tournament would commence on Oct. 19 in Abuja.
 
He said that it was being organized in conjunction with Association of Polio Survivors in Nigeria.
 
He said that the event, which is scheduled to take place in Abuja from Oct. 19 to Oct. 24, would feature 16 teams.
 
Lawan-Didi said that the teams would be drawn in four groups of four teams each, while cash prizes and trophies would be given to the winning teams.
 
``We will have 16 teams all together and we will take responsibility of their feeding and accommodation because we have support from our partners.
 
``Cash prizes and trophies will be given to the winners but that will be determined when the teams must have arrived.
 
``We will have meeting with them tomorrow morning to discuss the modalities and as well as the draws; the tournament will begin tomorrow after the draws,’’ Lawan-Didi said.
 
He said that the 16 teams would be accommodated at the Civil Defense hostel at Soaka, Abuja, adding that the competition would be used to mark the 2015 World Polio Day.
 
``We will embark on a one kilometer walk during the competition, to celebrate the end of polio in the country.
 
``Also, 20 children will be vaccinated during the event by polio-survivor athletes to raise public awareness on polio eradication efforts,’’ he said.
 
It will be recalled that Team Katsina won the 2014 edition, while Team Nasarawa was runner-up.
