Academic activities in the University of Jos have been suspended until further notice, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, of the institution has said.

 The indefinite strike action, it was gathered, was to press home lecturers demands for improved working conditions as being enjoyed in other universities which was being denied them. 

 A statement conveying the notice and signed by F.C. Piwuna, ASUU chairman of the university in Jos over the weekend, said the union’s National Executive Council, had approved of the action.

 It said, “The NEC of ASUU has approved our request for total, indefinite and comprehensive strike starting immediately. “It means that all activities – teaching, supervision, examination as well as statutory and ad-hoc committee meetings – have been suspended.
