Adebayo Shittu |
Minister of Communication, Mr Adebayo Shittu, on Friday said communication could become Nigeria’s cash-cow if properly explored.
He promised to do everything within his power and ability to actualise the dream.
Shittu stated this when he paid a courtesy call on Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state in Ibadan.
He assured people of the state that he would give his best in his assignment and make the state proud.
``I thank the people of the state for their support and more importantly, that of my brother and leader, the governor of the state.
``I pledge before him now that I would represent the people in the seat of power towards ensuring that our state gets its dues in everything,’’ Shittu added.
Shittu had earlier on arrival told newsmen that he would set up a ministerial constituency office in Ibadan, an innovation he said would be targeted at bringing government nearer to the people.
``The new office will afford the people of the state chance to reach me and the seat of power.
“I promise that the needs of the people will be attended to with dispatch,’’ he said.
In his remarks, Ajimobi congratulated the minister and specifically made reference to his performances at the Senate screening, describing it as impressive.
He commended him for his carriage after his nomination, saying that he displayed maturity in handling people who wanted to diminish his political stature.
`` You are not Oke-Ogun minister but that of Oyo state. You are representing the state, which comprises Oke-Ogun, Isale Ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ibadan, Ibarapa and all other areas.
``I commend your understanding and maturity by not allowing such people to derail you,’’ he said.
Ajimobi thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for giving the state substantive ministerial position, and pledged to support the minister.
