The veteran women coach has called on the NFF to look out for talents for the nation's U17 women team at the ongoing competition in Umuahia

Former head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Obi Ogbala has urged the Nigeria Football Federation to use the ongoing Nigeria Women Premier League Super Six competition to scout for age grade talents for the country's U17 women national team.

The Flamingoes will begin their qualification campaign for the 2016 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Jordan against either Botswana or Namibia in January.

And Ogbala believes young and quality talents could be discovered among the top contending six teams in the country's women domestic league to ensure a successful outing at 5th edition of the international women's youth football championship.

"I will appeal to the NFF to look at the various clubs playing at the Super Six tournament to pick handful of talents for the upcoming U17 World Cup qualifiers," Ogbala said.

"We have good and quality players in some clubs that could be invited to the U17 camp. With the qualifiers around the corner, competition like this would help us find the best legs.

"As a grassroot coach, I'm sure that there are young players here participating in the Super Six that could give us quality representation and make the country proud if they get the chance to showcase themselves.

"I know it's not to going to be an easy task trying to discover raw and talented players for the U17 women national team. But we must put aside sentiment and start early in building our team ahead of next year's qualifiers," he concluded.

Nigeria U17 women team will take on winner between Botswana and Namibia in the first round of the qualifier. The first leg of the first round encounter holds in Abuja between 8 to 10 January, while the reverse fixture holds two weeks later.
