A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, Nigeria on Wednesday granted bail to a 25-year-old cook, Innocent Israel, in the sum of N20,000 for alleged theft of Geoni phone worth N24,000.
The presiding officer, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, ordered the defendant to produce a surety in the like sum and adjourned the case till May 9 for hearing.
Israel of Jabi Upstairs, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, said that Tope Owoputi of the same address reported the matter on behalf of her brother, Adekolu Adedayo at the Life Camp Police Station Abuja, on March 8.
Obatomi said that on March 7, Adedayo and the defendant, Isreal, where sitting outside their house discussing and that her brother suddenly slept off.
She added that in that process, the defendant allegedly made away with her brother’s Geoni phone worth N24,000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
Israel pleaded not guilty to the offence, saying that they had always been living in peace and that he was a good Christian.
