The days of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as Senate Deputy President appears numbered as All Progressives Congress, APC governors may have reached a consensus to for his removal and replacement with an APC senator.

 Rising Tuesday from a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC governors maintained  that it portends no good for the opposition PDP to  hold on to the Deputy Senate President position, which they described as 'sensitive' under the circumstances.

 It was gathered from sources close to the governors that the governors were of the view  that in the absence of the President of the Senate, the next person is his deputy. Thus, they described it as  'an anomalous situation' for  PDP senator to hold position as the Deputy President of the Senate.

 Theledgerng.com gathered that the APC governors uneasy over the unhealthy relationship between the Presidency and Senate Leadership met with President Buhari  to broker peace, and ensure a healthy relationship between the Senate which has an APC majority with President Buhari

 Before the APC's governor meeting with President Buhari, chairman of the APC governors forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State had earlier announced the 'Ekweremadu-Must-Go' project.

 Okorocha maintained that “The position of Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President is at the moment under heavy threat, because in no distant time, the APC Senator in-waiting from Imo State, Benjamin Uwajumogu, will take over the seat on the grounds that it is an aberration that a PDP senator from the South-East is deputy to an APC Senate President because, before now, the APC could not produce a senator from the South-East zone.

 The Imo governor predicted  that  Senator Ekweremadu would soon be out of office and  should ready to be replaced by Benjamin Uwajumogu, who won the last 

 Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, quoted the Imo State governor as saying this on Sunday night at a victory party he organised to celebrate the outcome of the July 23, 2016 rerun election for Okigwe zone senatorial seat and the two state constituencies of Oru-East and Oru-West in Imo State.

 Okorocha, optimistic, though Uwajumogu is yet to be officially declared winner by INEC affirmed that with the outcome of the rerun election, Ekweremadu’s seat as the Deputy Senate President had come under 'heavy threat.'
