"The growing menace of insecurity, especially terrorism in the North and kidnapping in the South in recent years in Nigeria which has largely threatened our national security" was the key factor in determining this years's theme states a press release signed by Messrs Raphael Ekpang and Jide Oyekunle, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Chapel.
The statement further added that the media determine dominant values, perceptions and attitudes of the society by its impact. Therefore, its importance in addressing national security in a democratic setting cannot be overemphasized as it is the bridge between the people and its societal activities.
“The Nigerian media as an integral part of the society will not relent in playing its pivotal role in achieving national unity. Therefore, all hands must be on deck to tackle this challenge,” it affirmed.
Theledgerng.com gathered that other activities lined up for the week which coincides with its executive committee's one year in office includes a visit and presentation of gift items to orphanage homes on Wednesday and a novelty football match slated for Thursday.
