Embattled Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu  has  covertly developed interest in the Masters Energy Oil v Mut-Hass Petroleum suit which has been pending in several courts  since 2011.

 Gov Ikpeazu, reportedly becoming increasingly  jittery and uneasy since  the June 27, 2016  ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja sacked him from office and declared Dr. Uche Ogah  the duly elected governor of the State appears to be working on the assumption that the outcome of the suit  would favour him.

 Unfortunately, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  in compliance with the court ruling has since issued Ogah with Certificate of Return.

 However, Ikpeazu not willing to quiet honourably has since abandoned governance, preferring to daily play  host to rallies and courtesy visits by PDP stalwarts  with the vain hope of authenticating his illegal stay in office.

 However, becoming desperate ike a drowning man reaching for straws, Ikpeazu Thursday dispatched  his Chief Press Secretary, Appolos Enyinnnaya, two aides and over 30 journalists to a Lagos magistatrate court when the Masters Energy Oil v Mut-Hass Petroleum Ltd suit resumed hearing.

 In the suit before Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kikelomo Ayeye, Ogah, President of Masters Energy Oil and Gas Ltd, and two former staff of United Bank for Africa, UBA were earlier in the year  arraigned before the court  for allegedly forging some documents relating to the opening of an account belonging to one Mrs Bridget Adeosun of Mut-Hass Petroleum Nigeria Ltd.

 However, when the case was first mentioned, Ogah pleaded not guilty to the charge insisting that the matter bordered on business transaction gone awry. Similarly,  the management of UBA through an advertorial in the Punch newspaper has also absolved their ex-employees of any wrong doing on the issue.

 Ogah's lawyer, Mr.  Monday Ubanialso explained that the forgery allegation by the police was mischievous as the complainant, Mrs Adeosun had actually entered a business agreement with Ogah's company, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Ltd where she divested her interest in an oil importation contract.

 According to Ubani, part of the agreement included the opening of an account in the name of Mut-Hass Energy where proceeds from the oil importation business would be paid into.

 Ubani added   that the  business went on smoothly until Mrs Adeosun attempted to alter the account signatories and make herself soul signatory after the oil business proceed had been paid into the account.

 "We have all our evidence and we will show to the court, the mischievous nature of the complainant. How can someone attempt to change the signatories of an account you claim was forged. The court will surely hear the truth and I can assure you that truth and justice shall prevail," he affirmed.

 The matter has been adjourned to October 10, 2016.

 An obviously infuriated Ubani also  told journalists  that the allegations were  politically motivated: "You can imagine what happened today. What is the business of Abia State Government in a trial that they are neither complainant nor prosecutor. This goes to show you those behind this false allegation."
