A faction of the Odua People's Congress (OPC) has  in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, advised Gani Adams to immediately resign from the position of the National Coordinator of the group for peace to reign in the OPC.

A statement jointly signed by the state Coordinators for OPC in Kwara and Oyo, Comrades Maruf Olanrewaju and Adeola Adeagbo warned Adams not to turn himself to the former Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh in OPC, who didn't want to relinquish power when his people had rejected him.

They said: "Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the director of media and  public affairs in the palace of the imperial majesty, the Ooni of Ife in person of Comrade  Moses Olafare, where he erroneously stated that Ooni didn't ask Gani Adams  to resign. We all know who Gani Adams is, and his antecedent when it comes to  propaganda. Adams' antecedent makes
us believe that the purported statement did not emanate from the Palace but from Gani Adams,  who has turned himself to "SERIKI TULASI" and another "Yayah Jammeh" in OPC.

"We are challenging  Gani Adams to come out and present to the entire world his evidence to prove the  cooked up story he is celebrating, that the imperial majesty denied that he should step down."

According to them, Ooni's position in the meeting he held with them was very clear and unambiguous. "To set the record straight and for the sake of posterity, Ooni's position and  stand was that Gani Adams should step down  from the position he is currently occupying for peace to  reign in OPC," they asserted.

They disclosed that there was a video of the proceedings of their meeting with Ooni to prove their case, where the monarch made it clear that it was only the position of traditional that is for life and not the position of OPC, nor any other organisation.

"Our stand remains unshakable on OPC to become one indivisible entity and for that to  be realistic Gani Adams must step down as Kabiyesi said.

"We are all living witness to the crisis of OPC during the period of Gani Adams faction vs Dr. Frederick Fasheun's faction. We will not want a situation  whereby history will repeat itself, as we all know that Gani Adams rose to what he is today through violence and we will not allow him to do what he knows best.

"Gani Adams is fond of these tactics, we hereby call on general public to disregard the said statement in as much as it was not from the Palace", the group added.
