Five Kwara State-owned tertiary institutions are to receive the sum of N204, 936, 393.62 as allocation for first and second quarters of 2017 as from today as approved by the Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The beneficiary institutions are College of Education, Ilorin; College of Education, Oro; College of Nursing, Ilorin; College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, and College of Nursing, Oke-Ode.

Governor Ahmed directed the immediate release of the funds during a meeting on Tuesday with heads of state-owned tertiary institutions, where he also charged them to meet their revenue targets by intensifying efforts to market their schools and improve their IGR to meet recurrent expenditure.

A breakdown of the amount shows that College of Education, Ilorin will receive N38, 300, 824.83; College of Education, Oro will receive N102, 190, 077.24, while CAILS, Ilorin will get a total of N54, 819, 287.18. 

Others are College of Nursing, Oke-ode: N9, 402, 591.70, and College of Nursing, Ilorin: N223, 612.67.

At the meeting held at Government House, Ilorin, Governor Ahmed also charged the school authorities to ensure judicious use of funds made available to them. The governor assured that the State government will not relent in its support for the schools through regular provision of subventions and infrastructural facilities. He also reiterated the commitment of the State government to restructure the citadels of learning and make them self-sustaining in view of current economic realities and global trends.
