The Delta State Government has issued a 21-day ultimatum to encroachers into the lands of the state owned University Awai Asaba. 

 While it also raised serious concern on the increasing rate of encroachers into various government lands, particularly Delsu Awai Lands, the State Commissioner for High Education, Engr. Jude Sinebe confirmed to journalists yesterday in Asaba that the state had received several reports on the encroachers to the school lands, saying that on the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum issued to the encroachers and if they failed to vacate, government will take steps to ensure they are caught up with the law. 

 While expressing dismay at the action of the people (encroachers) who he said claimed to be “vagrants” the Commissioner said it was disheartening to see people occupying government lands, even to the extent of selling portions of the lands to eke living for themselves. 

 Investigation revealed that Delsu Awa lands had been taken over by some persons who claimed to be vagrants and have no money to may rents. Worse still, is the lands discovered to also been erected with 2-bad room apartment each without approval from the state government. 

 The commissioner disclosed that the encroachers on his visit to the school recently, discovered that Delsu Awai Campus extends from camp 74 to the police station along Illah road, that have been taken over by encroachers, describing the act as illegal and unlawful.
