After 14 years outside the corridors of power, international lawyer-politician, Prince Ned Nwoko is set to return to full-time politics if his endorsement by the pan-Anioma political group, the Delta North Progressive Forum, is to be believed.
Nwoko, former member, House of Representatives, 1999-2003, after falling outy with the powers failed to return to power despite several attempts and subsequently took to tourism to express his irrepressible energy.
However, with his endorsement for the Delta North Senatorial seat, the Idumuje Ugboko billionaire Prince may have perfected plots to return to full time politics.
Rising from their deliberations, representatives from the the nine local government areas that made up the senatorial district, affirmed that the Delta North region would return to mainstream politics if a tested and brilliant politician like become their senator.
A statement issued and signed by the group co-ordinators, Mr. Bath Ozah and Mr. Felix Ifejiokwu respectively stated that Nwoko has the ability to sponsor quality bills that will make the region to succeed in all spheres.
The group also resolved to sensitize and mobilize all the citizens of the zone who are 18 years and above to take advantage of the current INEC Voters registration exercise to register and collect their PVCs.
The statement further added that the group had in its search discovered Prince Nwoko as the only person who will bring back the glory of Delta North in politics and the dividend of democracy. But sources said that the current member representing Aniocha/Oshimili at the Federal House of Representatives, Mrs. Amaechi Mrakpor had also indicated her interest to proceed to senate come 2019.
Her interest, our informed sources said, is allegedly backed up by the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who under strict permutation, said Ndudi Elumelu, the former House of Representatives members will go back and take over from Mrs. Mrakpor.
A source who did not want his name in the print said; “the lineup is that Mrakpor will take over from Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in 2019, Ndudi Elumelu will go back to House of Reps, as the governor, Dr. Okowa will complete 8 years as governor from Delta North”. Since the measures, politicians have commenced serious horse trading as well as the elections
