* Obaze
Dr. Oseloka Obaze has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra state following the conclusion of the party's  governorship primary election

Obaze polled 672 votes to defeat other aspirants including  Dr Alex Obiogbolu, 190 votes and Ifeanyi Ubah, CEO, Capital Oil and Energy, 94 votes

About 958 party delegates participated in the election.

Two other aspirants including Sen. Stella Oduah and former Minister, Emeka John had earlier withdrawn from the race citing irregularities.

Obaze, former Secretary to the State Government under former governor Peter Obi and Governor Willie Obiano hails from Anambra North Senatorial District like Gov. Obiano.

With the three top parties in the state, namely APGA, APC and PDP producing governorship candidates from Anambra North,  political observers believe that the governorship election scheduled for November 18, 2017 would be a tightly ran race.

Obaze’s emergence coming after  weeks of high powered politicking, and intrigues has been credited to former governor Peter Obi, who has long fallen out with his successor, Gov Obiano and is allegedly working to abort his second term ambition
