* Tears for four gunned down by robbers By Nosa Eresoyen, Asaba A 26-year old youth, Martins Okoh in Alifikede near Agbor, Delta State is currently helping the police after he was accused of stabbing a housewife (name withheld) and raping her. The Police Officers at the Agbor Police Division who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to journalists yesterday in Asaba on condition of anonymity, said the suspect allegedly committed the act on Thursday at the residence of the victim in Alifikede Quarters during which other occupants of the house including husband of the victim had gone out saying that the suspect has a misfit in one of his legs, police sources said it recovered from the suspect a big knife he allegedly used to commit the act on the victim’s stomach, fortunately she survived in a private hospital where she was rushed into. But unconfirmed sources said after allegedly stabbing the women, the source inside her pool of blood descended on her in love making. “We have interrogated the suspect who admitted stabbing the housewife and raped her. Investigation is ongoing, and when completed, the suspect would be charged to court” the police officers who spoke without their names said. Meanwhile, four persons who were killed by gunmen in Abraka market recently were yesterday buried amidst tears. The burial of the victims well attended by Security Chiefs in the state was carried out in the Muslim rites. Some of the traders who witnessed the alleged killing of the four persons by their gunmen lamented the act and called on the police to ensure the culprits are brought to book in no distant time. Speaking during a meeting held with non-indigenes, the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim however assured Deltans and non-Deltans in the state of the police protection including their properties and warned that hoodlums will no longer have their ways in the scheme of things in the state. Expectedly, the scene of the victims’ burial in Akwuebulu was charged and enveloped with tears from both immediate and extended family members of the deceased.
