''After  20 years operating from make shift premises, Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria, FICAN wants to have its own National Secretariat'' says the body of Finance and Economy journalists which  Tuesday are playing host to Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and the Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

Emefiele and Magu are respectively the keynote speaker and  guest speaker at FICAN's 20th Anniversary Public Lecture  and Awards holding at Top Rank Hotels Galaxy, Utako Abuja where several departments, agencies and corporate organisations are being recognised for outstanding service delivery.

Also being recognised includes former journalists now in the public sector and corporate concerns, including Mr Joe Anichebe, director, Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE; Mr Tony Ede, formerly of the CBN and Mr. Yushau Shuaib, Publisher, PR Nigeria

Others include Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN and Mr. Wahab Gbadamosi, Head Communications and SERVICOM, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.

Highlight of the event according to FICAN Chairman, Mr Simeon Ogoegbulem would the appeal for government, corporate and public support to flag off construction of a national secretariat for the 20-year body.

''A piece of land has been acquired in Abuja, andf we intend , with your support and that of our partner  organisations, to begin construction work on the site.  Our aim is to celebrate our 25th anniversary in our own office'' Ogoegbulem told theledgerng.com
