Her suspension for 2 weeks notwithstanding, Ebonyi State House of Assembly member, Hon. Maria Ude Nwachi, appears to be in high spirits and continues with her preparations to create over 100 millionaires on January 27, 2018.
Hon Nwachi, popularly called Afikpo Chic, Best Chic Ever Liveth, BCEL, Ude Ehugbo amongst other pet names is very popular on the social media, specifically Facebook. Her closed Facebook group ‘Igboist’ has over one million members. While those following her daily posts numbers well over 200,000 plus. She is indeed one of the Facebook tigers, though largely apolitical in her posts.
Weeks before two weeks suspension was slammed on her by ESHA, Nwachi has created a subgroup, Igboist Millionaire Club, IMC where she promised to make the millionaires via an in house raffle draw.
She is also quite popular amongst her followers for her philanthropic gestures and regular distribution of gifts to them.
From information gathered from the IMC wall, Nwachi had remained upbeat and unperturbed as she and her numerous co-admin continue to post updates on the raffle draw which comes up on Saturday, January 27, 2018.
Theledgerng.com reports that Nwachi had indicated her interest to run for a seat in the House of Representatives, the Afikpo Federal Constituency.
Theledgerng.com gathered that Nwachi who emerged virtually from the blues to win the Afikpo North-East State Constituency on the platform of APGA is seen as a threat to power brokers dumbfounded at her solo efforts in winning her seat. She later defected to PDP, the ruling party in the State.
The ESHA Tuesday suspended Nwachi for alleged gross misconduct. She was accused of allegedly posing as public photographer.
The motion for the suspension was moved by the Leader of the House, Hon. Joseph Nwobasi representing Ezza North East constituency and seconded by Hon. Franca Okpo representing Abakaliki North constituency. The House said Nwachi have refused to heed earlier warnings by the Assembly to desist from being a photographer in the state.
Nwachi, former Minority Leader, brought disrespect and dishonesty to herself and the Assembly by posing as a public photographer, the ESHA alleged.
She was therefore suspended for 14 days pending the outcome of investigations on the allegations leveled against her by a special committee constituted by the House to investigate the allegations.
Meanwhile, her numerous followers on her Facebook group have rallied round her and maintains she is being victimised.
Hon Nwachi is married with a child.
