In realization of its star projects, the Delta State Government has said that ongoing projects in Asaba, and its environs, would be completed to specification.
Chief James Augoye, the State Commissioner for Works who confirmed this to journalist Thursday in Asaba, however commended residents of the affected areas of the ongoing projects in their patience and assured the state government’s readiness to realize the projects soon.
He said: “once the Nnebisi section of the projects is connected with the DLA/Jesus Saves/Agric road projects, the environmental problems affecting the residents would have been fully addressed”.
Expectedly, Asaba and its environs had over the years been faced with serious erosion problems, especially during rainy season where houses including properties are swept away in flood.
But the state government under the leadership of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa took proactive steps to ensure the menace becomes history.
Chief Augoye while expressing satisfaction at the pace and quality of the ongoing storm water (deep underground sower) projects in the flood prone areas in Asaba, said that the Nnebisi Road drain connecting the DLA road/Jesus Saves/Agric road would be completed in May this year 2018.
On the menace of flood water on DBS, cabinet office road, its environs, the commissioner noted that the ongoing drainage (swewer) project from Mariam Babangida road will effectively address the situation, and called on the contractor in charge of the Airport road project to expidite actions on the pace of work to avert the devastating impacts of flood in the flood prone area.
The ongoing Asaba Airport Runaway, the Commissioner expressed hope that the project when completed would “open doors” for socio-economic advancement of the state, noting that the project in nine months time will harbor bigger aircraft.
