Political differences and related activities continues to  unsettle the relative peace and working environment at the Aniocha North Local Government council in Delta State few weeks after new leadership assumed office.

Theledgerng.com reports that the emergence of Chuks Oseme as the LG chair precipitated a pandora box of intrigues and tussle for supremacy.

Trouble reportedly started at the council when a group of the party chieftains swore  in 2/3 of the councillors who won the recently concluded Local Government Election without the Council’s Chairman, Chuks Oseme  in attendance : a situation that was described as the violations of the Local Government rules and regulations.

Expectedly, the anomaly was not to persist as Governor  Ifeanyi Okowa ordered that the Status quo remain, thereby nullifying the swearing in of the 2/3 councillors.  The  chief Press secretary to the LG boss, Mr. Matthew Ochei in a  reaction confirmed that the trouble started with the  unconstitutional swearing in of the councillors masterminded by one of the ambitious lawmakers in the council

He said ‘ We thank Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for reversing the unconstitutional swearing in of 2/3 councillors orchestrated  by the lawmakers and his cohorts thereby polarizing the Council.
However, before the dust settled, the Council erupted in fresh crisis of confidence when the House leader allegedly got  engaged in a messy fight that left some persons wounded.

The fight which was however resolved by security operatives was said to have brought the Council’s activities to a standstill especially in the alleged disappearance of the house mace by unknown persons.

Since then, there has been tension and palpable fear of the unknown as the situation had continued to deepen the political intrigue in the Council.
The Chief Press secretary to the Council Board, Ochei who confirmed the fight between the house leader and the clerk, dispelled as untrue the suspected Juju substance allegedly found in various offices of the council, adding that the current political impasse at the council will soon be over.

Speaking to journalists the House clerk who did not want her name mentioned  said ‘’the house leader hit me on my head and blood was rushing out over the disagreement we had and I called in the DSS who later resolved to settle the matter after my treatment’’
