For fear of being accused of jumping bail, Mr. Olisa Metuh, former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was ferried to Federal  High Court, Abuja in an ambulance, and subsequently carried into the court room on a stretcher.

 At the last sitting of his trial over N400 million fraud, Metuh was absent, pleading illness. However, the presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang took a dim view of his excuses, and throwing out his application for adjournment,  threatened to declare him as having absconded, and issue a warrant of arrest for him if he fails to appear in court on the next adjourned date, Monday, February 5.

 Metuh thus arrived the court on a stretcher, and Abang subsequently adjourned the matter to March 15, expressing satisfaction with the position of Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), counsel to Metuh, that his client is indeed indisposed

 It would be recalled that in his application for adjournment, Metuh stated that  he had been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit, ICU of the Nnamdi Axikiwr Teaching Hospital, NAUTH,  Nnewi.

  Prof. Anthony Igwegbe, Chief Medical Director (CMD) of NAUTH, who wrote  a letter accompanying the application confirming that Metuh was on admission at the hospital, declined comments when sighted at the court premises.
