    Kwara State  Governor  Abdulfatah Ahmed Thursday explained that his administration granted tax waivers to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and whoever has outstanding payment for property tax in order to stimulate  growth and encourage them pay up their taxes as at when due.

  Governor Ahmed was speaking at the Kwara Internal Revenue Service, KWIRS headquarters, Ilorin,  where he went to pay his property tax.

     Speaking to newsmen, Governor Ahmed said his presence at the office of KWIRS to pay the charges underscores the importance government attaches to complying to issues of tax payment to ensure sustainable development of the State.

   According to the governor, members of the public, cooperate bodies and other land users are expected to follow suit as a practical demonstration of their commitment to the progress of the state, as "this remains the only way to enable government mobilise enough resources to improve infrastructure, human capital and economic development of the state, noting that inability to pay tax as a duty will lead to deficit in funding capacity which, according to him, may have negative impact on the economy
