In the course of our conversation, Mr Chidi Kossi must have noticed something like scepticism in my reactions. How did he address that. Swiftly, he commandeered a Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 4th edition.
After he read to me, I took the dictionary to read for myself: “Something regarded as the biggest, most impressive, or most important of (its kind)”. That’s the definition of ‘Mother of all'
“That is what Prince Ebeano Supermarket is promising, and delivering to our Abuja shoppers as they shop for Easter on March 30, being Good Friday, Mother of All Sales Discounts.
“Yes, we know our shoppers are not fussy when it comes to prices, so all we are really saying to them is a ‘Big Thank You' for the warm reception given us when we opened our Abuja outlet. It was massive, overwhelming. So short of opening our store and asking them to come and pick their choice items free, we are giving them a discount to tickle them. Its the ‘Mother of All Sales Discounts’, said Kossi, the Manager of Prince Ebeano Supermarket, Abuja outlet.
It either slipped his mind, or he kept the best for the last, but he dropped a bomb shell as he walked me to the door: “ We are fixing it that prices will be dropping as customers are shopping”
“I didn’t get that, come again?”
“I said we are programming our system that prices will be dropping as customers are shopping. Its discounts in real-time”, he replied.
“It’s going to be a massive discount across board. Since it is a festive period shopping, we are offering discounts nobody, I repeat nobody, not even the conventional market woman can beat in our Village Market on Friday, March 30.
“In the Village Market, we are offering fresh farm produce, and seasoned seafood like crayfish, stockfish, dried fish, and food items like palm oil, garri, local seasoning, plus other ingredients you need to make that special soup like white soup or afang or kpegiri.
“We are also crashing the prices in the frozen food section for items like fish, chicken. Not forgetting drinks as in soft drinks, where we are offering buy two, get one free in one of the coke brands.
For some children's drinks, we have 20% discount. In wines and beers, its unbelievable”, Kossi added

Since its quiet entry to the Abuja retail sector, Prince Ebeano Supermarket is quickly becoming the darling of choosy Abuja shoppers, not only for its unbeatable price offers, but also for its unique Village Market which recreated the conventional market scenario in a Supermarket setting, plus wide range of quality products.
