One of Nigeria's budding political party, the Social Democratic Party {SDP} is heading for a collision course following the rejection of Alhaji Shehu Gabon as national secretary.
To this end, the Secretary of the SDP states' Chairmen forum, Abubukar Dogara is warning Gabon to desist from parading himself as the National Secretary of the party.
Speaking in an interview in Jos, Dogara reiterated that there was never a convention or National Executive Committee meeting that ratified Gabon's position as the dully elected National. Secretary of the party.
According to him, since no convention or National Executive Committee meeting was held by the party, “such office is unwarranted and does not exist and remains illegal based on our party constitution”.
He said to the knowledge of the forum, the office of the National Secretary has never been vacant and there was no any communication from the party concerning vacancy or emergence of Gabon as the National Secretary.
” On this note, Zonal and state Branches of the party to disregard any communication eliminating from the self acclaimed National Secretary,” he advised.
Dogara therefore, called on INEC as custodian of the nation’s democratic activities to rise up to the challenges of impunity and internal democracy among various political parties in the country.
