The Senate and House of Representative Ad-hoc Committee on the
Establishment and Development of  National Assembly Museum and Archives
has sought for the speedy implementation of the proposal to establish a Legislative Museum and Archives aimed at preserving the nation's legislative records. 

The committee rising  from its meeting adopted its  reports, and urged the House of Representatives to  collaborate with the Senate to establish a joint committee of Culture and Tourism on National Assembly Legislative Museum and Archives, to study the resolutions of the 7th Senate and House of Representatives  on the report of the Ad-Hoc committee on Immortalization for implementation and continuity to enrich the achievements of the National Assembly.

It will be recalled that the committee was inaugurated on Wednesday
May 2, 2018 by the Senate President Bukola Saraki who stressed that the
repository resource of the museum and archives will be used to strengthen
the Nigeria democratic culture through immortalization of personalities and 
knowledge of parliamentary proceedings, and thematic exhibitions and
publications.

The Committee further suggested  that the Directorate of National Assembly
Legislative Museum and Archives should be created by an amendment of the
National Assembly Service  Act, adding  that a groundbreaking ceremony
should be held at the proposed site on May 18, 2019 as part of the
celebration of the World Museums Day. ‘’A temporary exhibition should be
put in place before the groundbreaking ceremony on May 18, 2019. Also, the
space in the NASS Lobby close to Senate Hearing One should form part of the
exhibition space, public enlightenment should commence forthwith to create awareness for the museum and the groundbreaking ceremony.

 ‘’The consultant Messrs RAA Heritage Global Resources Ltd (RAA-HGR) and
Messrs Almond and Oat Limited should be reengaged with specific terms of operation to see to the conclusion of the project. That Lagos Parliamentary building
at Tarawa Balewa Lagos should be renovated and furnished to serve as an
annex to the National assembly legislative Museum. ‘’That the proposed
budget for the takeoff of the Legislative Museum in the sum of N235,700,000
should be approved and released immediately,’’ the Committee affirmed in the 
 statement it issued at the end of its deliberations
