The Global Center for Humanitarian Service Peace and Development, GLOHSPED says the recent  the closure of  Nigeria's  border besides the socio-economic gains would equally impact  greatly on the Country's  internal security.


President of  GLOHSPED,  Mr Collins Ogokeh-Green in an assessment of the achievement of Nigeria Air Force, NAF's Air Task Force, 'Operation Lafiya Dole' in the Lake Chad region also recommended other measures  that would make  Nigeria's military victory over terrorists sustainable.

According to Ogokeh-Green, such measures include emphasis on improved intelligence gathering, partnership with relevant stakeholders and cordial relationship among security agencies. 

''The Federal Government should also ensure timely delivery of expected military aircraft and sustained funding of the military operations'', he
stressed.

The GLOHSPED boss also commended  the strides recorded so far by Operation Lafiya Dole. Quoting Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF's Director of Public Relations and Information, he poiinted out that the  air strikes in the terrorist hideout cum preparation ground resulted in deaths of members of the group during exercise as  recent success which was consequent on reliable intelligence gathering and deployment sophisticated battle aircraft reinforces the superiority and gallantry of the Nigeria military as a force to reckon globally and in the sub-region.

He added that similar operation in local government area councils of Marte and Kerenoa of Borno State and other parts of Yobe State  resulted in dismantling of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram on some routes in mentioned locations and recovery of various degrees of firearms.

He further noted that ripples of these action of the troops in the North East region impacted  in other states as such  intervention did  not just arrest or quell growing insecurity but helped forestall peace.  He listed the foiling  of activities of bandits operating in Ungwan Shai community of Niger state,  rescuing of 2 kidnapped victims by troops of 8th  Division during clearance operation in Mai Yashi village in Sokoto states, and  the  arrest of  Shehu Jatau,   the notorious Tarok militia gang leader and 5 members of his group in Abuja. 

''More so, efforts of the military has helped brought incidence of oil theft, illegal refining and storage activities to the barest minimum and restoring peace and order in the oil rich region.  The arrest of Abubakar Kaduwa another notorious kidnapper that operates along Kano-Kaduna highway by troops of 3rd  Brigade Kano, rescuing  of 7 kidnapped victims from bandits in Kaduna state by troops of 2nd Battalion and arrest of other criminals gangs in Jos Plateau State to mention a few are some of the eloquent testimony of decisive and combat action of the military in the past few months''

Ogokeh-Green expressed optimism that with the purchase of attack helicopter gunships recently announced by Air Marshal Sadique during quarterly conference with top officers of the air force will significantly improve and boost the military operation against Boko Haram terrorist group in North East and other violent criminal groups’ activities in other parts of the country.
