The Islamic Education Trust (IET) in Nigeria says it has empowered Nigerians in diverse ways including sponsorship of over 100 orphans in different schools in Nigeria as part of its humanitarian services to people.
They also assisted them in paying their medical bills, providing food aid amongst other forms of humanitarian assistance.
Addresing newsmen at the press conference to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the association in Minna, Niger State, the Director General, Arzika Abubakar Rimau, said the educational programmes of IET are delivered through its established Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools through which over 100 orphans were sponsored to go to different schools to study.
Rimau said IET has grown into an organisation whose activities and impact have stretched across every region in Nigeria and to other countries in Africa with both national and global recognition.
The DG also disclosed that the medical outreach of the organisation would carry out cataract surgery for 25 patients free of charge within the neighborhood of IET as away of giving back to the society.
According to him, People will be screened and treated for other common illnesses such as malaria, hypertension, diabetes and others.
He said the Golden Jubilee celebration will help to bring together Muslims and Christians to discuss "Societal Peace and Development " .
The Islamic Education Trust IET, was established in November, 1969 in Sokoto by founding trustees , Alhaji Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Lemu, Late Hajiya Aisha Lemu and late Alhaji Sani Ashafa with vision of instilling the correct teachings of Islam into present and future generations for peaceful co-existence .
