The Commander,Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) Major General Adamu Abubakar Tarfa, on Saturday promised that the Army will not rest until terrorism and other forms of emerging criminality in the areas of responsibility are completely stamped out.

He made this known at the 2019 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) held at the Parade Ground Army Barracks, Minna to mark the end of year in review.

Tarfa said that the country is battling certain security challenges and the Nigerian Army is in the forefront of tackling these challenges, adding that in the past year, major successes were recorded by the Army  across the nation.

"It is therefore worthy to note that here in Niger State, troops of this Cantonment deployed across the state to curb the menace of insecurity have been achieving  positive results. "

According to him,  "The sacrifices and dedication of our troops cannot be quantified in the course of their duty, some have paid the supreme sacrifices  for our tomorrow. "
Tarfa said, "WASA provides a forum for officers, soldiers and their families to interact and socialise with friends and acquaintances outside official duties.

"It is also an avenue for the Barack Community to showcase the rich and diverse cultures of the nation, "he said.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt  Gen. Turkur  Buratai,  for his immense support to the command, and the dynamic leadership and guidance he had provided.

"We have consistently and diligently keyed into his vision for the Nigerian Army which is to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles. "

In his remarks, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, who was represented by his Special Adviser, on security, Brigadier General Mohammed Imam, retd, commended the Army for the good job it is doing across the state and Nation at large.

Bello said that the programme would further foster unity between the Army, sister agencies and society in general.
WASA was customarily observed to mark the end of the training year and usher in new year.

The event featured tug of war,  dances by cultural groups, Igbo,  Yoruba,  Igala, Hausa,  Nupe, as well as presentation of gifts and awards to distinguished soldiers and guest.
