* Enyimba Economic City, the only FTZ IN SE

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State  does not own any shoe or garment industry in Aba or anywhere in the world, says Hon John Okiyi Kalu,  Abia State Commissioner for Information.

Kalu acknowledged that there is a garment in the "governor's village", which belongs to a businessman.

"Gov Ikpeazu does not own any garment factory anywhere in the world. He is a teacher and has told all who care to listen that if they ever find any company owned by him they should cease it and return same to Abians.

"The garment factory in “his village” belongs to Elder Raymond Aliga, aka Goodseed Industries, who is a business man and has been around long before Dr Ikpeazu was elected Governor"

Kalu made the clarifications during virtual interactive session with a broad spectrum of eminent  journalists of Abian descent, comprising media owners, editors, columnists, broadcasters digital publishers

Asked to confirm the allegations that Ikpeazu owns a garment factory sited in his village, the Commissioner said no such thing exists. He attributed the origin of the rumours to the political opposition in the State which he described as  "the most toxic opposition in the world and I know they are responsible for spreading these false information. Please verify every information you receive from Abia opposition just like I will encourage you to also verify ours.

"We sent 30 Abians to China to learn automated shoe making in China and they are back. The administration imported the same machines they learned with and have deployed same at Aba. The shoe factory is registered as  Enyimba Automated Shoe Factory, Aba and does not belong to Gov Ikpeazu. Please verify ownership structure via CAC and disregard the malicious propaganda."

Also speaking on the Enyimba Economic City, Kalu said it is a private sector driven project and  the only Free Trade Zone in the South East, and its factories would be driven by gas which Abia has in abundance. He added that the City also had an Inland Port License
