The Police Command in Niger State on Saturday said that 36 cattle and four sheep suspected to be rustled had been recovered along Kampanin-Bobi road in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, told newsmen in Minna that the joint patrol team of police and local vigilante on May 14 sighted the bandits who abandoned 36 cows and four sheep fled to the near by bush for fear of being apprehended.
He said “ the police intercepted and took the animals to Bangi Divisional Headquarters.
The spokesman said, " effort to locate the rightful owners of the animals is on going, as they are expected come to Bangi Division with proof of ownership for possible identification."
He said the animals recovered from suspected bandits comprised 36 cattle and four
sheep .
Abiodun assured Niger residents of the command’s commitment to rid the state of any form of criminality and protect lives and properties.
“I urge you for useful information so as to take proactive measures against criminals in our midst,’’ he said.
