Groups of different social-political and online media activists have raised their voices against the alleged threat messages sent to the publisher of OLIKA REPORTERS NEWS, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo-Ray by a political associate of sacked former national chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, Capt Idahosa Okunbo, aka, Captain Hosa.
The groups coordinated by comrade Joseph Oriarhewo include The Edo Resistants (ER), Uromi First Forum (UFF) and the PDP Justice Network.
Ray Okpebholo had accused the APC chieftain and sponsor of the Edo APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of threatening his life over a publication carried by Olika Reporters on the Edo born businessman`s involvement in the sponsorship of cultists activities in Edo state, stating that apart from the threat messages sent directly from the phone number of capt Hosa, the online publisher also got numerous phone call threatening his life with hidden callers ID.
According to Mr. Oriarhewo; “we are placing it on notice to everyone both in Nigeria and in the diaspora that should anything happen to Mr. Okpebholo-Ray or any members of his close or extended family, whether in Nigeria or outside, captain Hosa should be held responsible”.
“We will be sending a petition to the UK and US embassies in Nigeria, as well as other EU and all the security agencies in Nigeria, to intimate them of the threat to the life of one of us”.
“On our own, we have advised Deacon Okpebholo-Ray to report the matter to the authorities wherever he is and have it documented as we know that he is not currently in the country”.
“You cannot kill a man for doing his legitimate job and we will rise against any form of intimidation as we continue to agitate for a better Nigeria”, Oriarhewo concluded.
