Nnamdi Kanu

Federal Government of Nigeria, FGN has been ordered to apologise to Nnamdi Kanu,  leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and also pay N1billion being cost of damages to him

Justice Ben Anya of the High Court, Umuahia  while delivering judgement in the case of Fundamental Human Rights suit filed in August, 2021 by Kanu averred  that the Federal Government violated Kanu’s rights.

The suit filed by the special counsel to Kanu/IPOB, Mr Aloy Ejimakor had asked for  N50bn for damages and equally urged  the court to declare as illegal, the military invasion of Kanu’s country home in 2017; Declare as illegal and unlawful the repatriation of his client from Kenya to Nigeria as well as ordering  the FG to stop further charges against Kanu, among others.

At the conclusion of the hearing in Umuahia, Ejimakor tweeted:

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wins as Abia High Court rules that Federal Government violated his fundamental rights, orders Federal Government to pay N1b to him and issue a letter of apology to him.
