Communities living along Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene had been urged to remove buildings, crops or other impediment along the road as the contractor working on the road are returning to site soonest
“As we get ready to welcome the contractors back to site, let me use this medium to communicate to you that the Honourable Minister has written to me, asking me to address you to ensure that efforts are made to remove crops and buildings that are within the Right of Way (RoW) so as to ensure that the contractors have an unimpeded access to the road as they resume work.”
Speaking on the deplorable state of the road, Rep Onuigbo lamented that the entire road were in a state of disrepair before his election to office and recalled some portions were impassible.
He also who decried the recurrent palliative works carried out on the road, and maintained he is determined to provide a lasting solution by getting the totally reconstructed and showed this by his frequent visits to the then Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola which earned him recommendation from the latter.
He expressed gratitude to the Minister for his response to yearnings of his heart, and appealed to the people to avoid any form of distraction which will slow down work on the road
The stakeholders meeting attracted traditional rulers from the three LGAs in the Federal Constituency, Representatives of the contractor handling the project, Representatives from Federal ministry of Work, FRSC officials, VC of MOUAU, Prof Iwe, the CMD, of Federal Medical Center, Prof Azubike Onyebuchi and several others.
