Our Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, Village Heads, the Clergy were all in a happy mood Wednesday January 26, 2022 when the warring neighbours (over farm lands) from Nkari in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom State and Usaka- Ukwu in Ikwuano LGA sat together to concur to the contents of the Peace Accord put together by a Joint Peace Agreement Drafting Committee.



In the full glare of the Head of the Army Camp, Lt N.G. Kebbe, the two Local Government Chairmen of Ikwuano and Ini, Chief Steve Mpamugo and Hon. Idaisin respectively, the MOU was read to the mamooth crowd and all parties (shouted Ayeee) to the contents that were signed.

The contents of the agreement specified that both parties must embrace the part of peace, recultivate the old cultural practices of unhindered visits, free movement and avoidance of provocation and the use of arms in whatever circumstances over the disputed areas.


The major contents of the Peace documents stressed that both parties should ensure unhindered freedom from the major connecting roads to Usaka-Ukwu, Nkari up to Azunchai traversing the whole land mass that cut through  Ekpiri Ala-Ala which looks like a cone.

In their presentation speeches of the documents, Barrister Aphonsus Okon and Prince Henry Eleogu expressed joy for the opportunity given to them to be part of this historical dot. They prayed that the spirit contained in the document should manifest in the way the two Communities co-habit from now onward.

In the course of adopting and accepting the MOU, the two Local Government Chairmen re-emphasized the importance of collective condemnation of all acts that are capable of interfering with the social peaceful cohesion and co-habitation of the people. The two Chairmen further warned that, forthwith, anybody who is cought carrying out acts in contradiction to the spirit and contents of the agreement will be severely dealt with.

The Civil Defence Representatives in Ikwuano, State Investigation Bureau officials, DSS, and the Youth Leaders of the two Communities were all present to witness the epoch.

In addition, the Royal Fathers of the two Communities, Eze J.N. Obaji, Eze A.O. Nwagwu; Obong Udoete Edem; the President-General of AUDU, Chief B.C. Mgbaramuko; the Local Government Supervisors for Ikwuano and Ini respectively were also present.

In conclusion, Hon. Pastor Maxwell Nwoko gave the closing prayers giving supplications God for His final stamp of peace to reign.
