Gov Soludo at burnt Nnewi South LGA

Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has commiserated with the families of the victims of regents attacks in Nigeria, and tasked the Federal Government on the need to up the ante in a bid to protect lives and property of the citizenry.                        

 He urged the federal government to nip in the bud the worsening insecurity in the country which has made the nation insecure and vulnerable to extreme violent attacks by bandits and terrorists.

The governor uhlamented the death of the  promising young dentist, Dr. Megafu Nwando who lost her life with other Nigerians in the deadly train attack by bandit terrorists, last Monday, the governor  described the late Dr  Megafu Nwando as a promising young doctor whose life was cut short in her prime, noting that her death was   painful, but avoid able.

Dr Megafu lost her life from injuries she sustained from gunshots when the Abuja-Kaduna bound train she was travelling in was attacked by bandit- terrorists in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna State.

A talented and skilled dentist, Megafu was born in Umuase village, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Governor Soludo in a press statement made available to newsmen by the Head of Soludo Media team, Joe Anatune also extended his condolences to families of other Nigerians who lost their lives in the attack.     

Meanwhile, Gov  Soludo early Thursday morning visited the scene of killing and arson attack in Nnewi South Local Government headquarters where the security man on night duty was shot dead.  Among the infrastructures damaged or burnt include the Education  Office and Works Department, the Traditional Rulers building within the premises. 

Accompanied by the State Commissioner of police and other head of security agencies in the state, the governor visited the site of destruction and killing,  condemning the attack as mindless and very unfortunate and mindless.       

Gov Soludo  assured that these acts of criminalities and lawlessness would not continue as he urged the  security agencies to go after the criminals and fish them out to face the law of land.

He regretted that the resources meant for deployment in reconstructing the burnt buildings would have been better utilised to provide essential needs and infrastructure that will benefit the people.

While appealing to Ndi Anambra not to despair, he pointed out that the state would rise again and no amount of repression could prevail or thwart the efforts of the government to build a strong and safe Anambra State.
