The APC primary election for Abia Central Senatorial District ended in confusion on Sunday May 29, 2022.
The primary election which was held at Chidiebere Park, Umuahia was in progress with delegates casting their votes when one of the aspirant, Chief Henry Ikoh walked to the table of the Electoral Committee to lay a complaint that some delegates were not allowed to vote.
While the complaint was yet to be resolved, representative of Rep Sam Onuigbo also brought their own complaint that some delegates from a certain LGA were not allowed to vote.
The back and forth between Ikoh and Onuigbo's representative halted the voting process for over 40 minutes, and as each side held on tenaciously to the positions the Electoral Committee chairman Hon Izuchukwu Okeke ordered the security to bring the ballot boxes be brought to him, and when that was done, he announced postponement of the election to the next day when the two aspirants were able to reach agreement.
The two aspirants, Rep Sam Onuigbo, currently representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chief Henry Ikoh are from Ikwuano LGA to which the two major parties, PDP and APC appear to have zoned the Senate seat to
