The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has officially withdraw from the 2023 presidential race. The former Abia State governor cited his reasons for withdrawal is following the inability of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to zone the 2023 presidential tickets to South East.
Kalu, in a post on his official Facebook page, also congratulated the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, whom he described as his former room mate and a friend, for purchasing the APC Presidential nomination and interest forms, today. In the Facebook post, Kalu said he stand for equity and fairness, noting that if the the two major political parties, APC and PDP, won’t zone their tickets to South East, then let the presidential race be thrown open.
He said: “I congratulate my friend, former roommate and boss, Senator Ahmad Lawan as he picks form to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC). I am most glad because he is from the North East, the only zone alongside South East that is yet to produce President of Nigeria.
