He further denied been a participant in APGA's primary election for Abia State House of Assembly aspirants.
"I therefore did not participate in the primary election for Abia State House of Assembly aspirants in APGA as I am not a member of APGA", he stated
Dailyledger.com.ng reports that Onyenucheya was a member of the PDP and an aspirant for the Abia State House of Assembly to represent Ikwuano state constituency, he however withdrew from the PDP primary election for the House, citing irregularities

It has been brought to my knowledge that my name; DAVID CHUKWUEMEKA ONYENUCHEYA was featured on the result sheet of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for State House of Assembly held on 24/05/2022 as aspirant for Ikwuano State Constituency in Abia State.
I hereby State clearly that I have NO PARTY CARD, NO MEMBERSHIP, NEITHER HAVE I PURCHASED ANY FORM FOR IKWUANO STATE CONSTITUENCY FROM ANY OTHER POLITICAL PARTY BUT THE PDP.
My supporters in the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) who are passionate to see us get the Ikwuano State House primary ticket orchestrated my involvement, without my knowledge

As we move on as a team, I humbly request all my supporters to remain calm as we are tirelessly working on the best decision for our people to get good governance; which I represent.
