Gov Okezie Ikpeazu


Abia State pensioners Thursday  again, took to the streets in lamentation over their 38 months pension arrears. "We are starving to death one by one", says their leader, Chukwuemeka Okezie and appealled  to  the Federal Government to prevail on Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu  to save their lives by paying them their long held  pension


Chukwuemeka Okezie, who led the pensioners clad in all-black attire, weeping and singing retributive songs, marching  round the capital city to show their anger.


Okezie told journalists that on Monday, June 19, two of their members died “out of starvation by not being able to buy drugs”, adding that recently, “the State started paying over three months, but half pension.”

He added that since 2014, “total number of unpaid monthly pension is 38 months, non-harmonisation of pensions from 1998 to 2010, and unpaid accumulated gratuities for 20 years.”

Okezie cried out:“Who is the Moses that will urge  Abia State Government to lead us out of Egypt?”
