Dave Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi is trending today, Saturday on Twitter for the wrong reason. Or better still by reason of  what he failed to do,  or what he did.

With over 23,OOO tweets calling him out over the tear gassing and attempt to disrupt the one-million man march for Peter Obi, the Ebonyi governor  just etched his name on the top spot in the black book of the OBIdient Movement or supporters of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Dailyledger.com.ng reports that early today, the one-million man march for Peter Obi which was about taking off at a designated spot in Abakiliki was disrupted by the Nigeria Police who fired teargas and attempted to disperse the gathering OBIdients. The Police alleged that Gov Umahi instructed them to abort the peaceful March.

As the OBIdients ran from the Police, they sent off tweets after tweets.. They equally sent out videos of the Police firing off canisters of teargas in rapid succession.

As the tweets went viral, and the World began to look towards Ebonyi, the governor pushed out a press statement claiming ignorance of the Police action, but it was already too late,  "We will wait for you at the polls next year, the Obidients vowed.

The incident showed off another character of their OBIdients - their resilience and refusal to yield grounds on what they believe in. Despite the Police provocation, they OBIdients regrouped in another part of Abakiliki and had their rally.

With this infraction, Gov Umahi hitherto held in high esteem for his impressive infrastructural and socio- development of Ebonyi is looking now like a chicken caught in a heavy down pour.

Again, the OBIdients showed they are indeed they are social media soldiers as their tweets painted Umahi as an intolerant and dictatorial politician.

Here are examples of some the tweets that making Dave Umahi to trend on Twitter:
