Washington DC-based online university, Nexford, Saturday urged  youths  to embrace remote work and learning to be better positioned for success in today’s world.


Mr Fadl All Tarzi, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Nexford University, gave the advice at the graduation of 400 students of the institution at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos State.


Dailyledger.com.ng reports that the 400 students are from the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Class of 2021 and 2022, and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Class of 2021.


Tarzi said that remote work and learning had become a major part of the modern global society and economy.


“The future is truly global and all of you, and the African continent, will certainly play a major role in the future of our planet; so, those of us who embrace this new paradigm will be better positioned for success.


“The better prepared you are, the better your chances of success.


“You all know that the world has changed tremendously over the past few years, including how we learn and work,” he said


Tarzi said that he was excited at the accomplishments of the university, particularly how it prepared the graduands with tools to compete globally


According to him, the most successful people will be those who will embrace the fact that one’s physical location, gender or race will no longer determine whether one can move up in his career.


“As remote work continues to grow in importance, mastery in the art of storytelling will be a vital skill in your professional journey.


“We all have stories to tell, but telling your story in this new remote work paradigm will only be possible if you have plenty of perseverance,” he said.


Dr Joe Abah,  Vice-President and Country Director of DAI Global (a global development international company), in a keynote address, advised the graduands to translate knowledge  gained into practical benefit to the society.


According to him, the best education one can have is the one that can be brought to bear for the good and development of the society.


He advised the graduands to seek to upgrade their profiles to compete effectively.


“You need to put in your time, efforts, sacrifices and sweat to distinguish yourself.


“Four Nigerians work in my U.S.-based company, we are recruiting more, and the management has been impressed with the quality coming from Nigeria and they have decided to recruit additional six,” he said.


 Mr Adetayo Bamiduro, Chief Executive Officer of Metro Africa Express, urged the graduands to use knowledge they acquired from Nexford University to contribute their quotas to Nigeria’s growth.


“What you have now is what you need, you’ve got all it takes to improve yourself and particularly the society; so, I encourage you to leave your comfort zones and make adequate use of the knowledge you have acquired,” he urged.


Mrs Olamidun Ogundoyin, Country Director of Nexford University, said that the graduation was a milestone.


“It is a clear illustration that we are living up to our mission here, in Nigeria, to provide high-quality, accessible and affordable education, and positioning learners in front of unique, uplifting career opportunities.


“It is a big one for us to admit a number of students ranging to thousand to an online programme in Nigeria, that is very unconventional. We are graduating 400 students today.


“Meanwhile, we have enrolled over 3,000 in Nigeria, you can earn a global degree through Nexford University here,” she said.


According to her, a Bachelor’s Degree programme takes about three years in Nexford University to complete, while MBA runs for about 18 months.


“Since launching Nexford in Nigeria back in 2019, we’ve enrolled over 3,000 learners in Nigeria alone, partnered with over 50 organisations, graduated over 600 and enrolled over 700 full or partial scholarships recipients, she said.


Ogundoyin noted that Nexford is an American university accredited in the U.S and in the United Kingdom  as an online university.


Dailyledger.com.ng reports that Ini Abimbola of the Class of 2022 graduated with a double degree (BBA and MBA) while some graduands got special awards for outstanding performances.
