A 23-year-old man, Adedipe Nathaniel, was on Wednesday docked before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court for alleged willful damage and theft of valuables worth N680,000.


Nathaniel, whose address was not given, is facing a three-count charge of breaking, stealing and willful damage.


The Prosecutor, Insp. Christian Okonofua, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 21, about 6:45 a.m. at Olubi Street in Ikorodu, Lagos.


Okonofua alleged that the defendant unlawfully break into offices in a building and stole one Amplifier, Home theatre valued N40,000 and four manual sewing machines valued N400,000.


He said that the items belonged to one Mr Awotugase Bolarinwa and Mrs Morenikeji Bolujoko.


The prosecutor alleged that the defendant willfully damaged the ceiling sheets in Mr Nnamani Emmanuel; Barrister Paul Obatayo and Bolujoko offices worth N240,000.


He claimed that the defendant willfully damaged ceiling sheets to enable him get into Bolarinwa and Bolujoko offices in the building.


He told the court that the offences contravened Sections 309(2), 287(7) and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.


He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.


The Magistrate, Mrs T.A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.


Shotobi adjourned the case until Sept. 15 for mention.
