Hon. Justice Lilian Abai has been sworn in as the new acting Chief Judge of Abia State. Her swearing in follows the retirement of Hon. Justice Onuoha Ogwe recently.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony held at Government House, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu charged the new acting Chief Judge of the state to maintain the stable relationship and harmony that had existed between the judiciary and the executive over the years, "It is my desire and wish that the tenure of the acting Chief Judge will follow the same trajectory", he said.
According to the Governor, he expects that her testimonies and stewardship will be evidenced as the judiciary becomes better in her time as the Acting Chief Judge of the State.
He pledged the support of the state government to ensure that the judiciary becomes better than she met it.
In her response, the New Acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Lilian Abai while appreciating the Governor for keeping with section 270 sub section 4 of the Constitution of the country as amended, promised to discharge her duties as ascribed by the law and maintain the harmony between the judiciary and other arms of government especially the executive.
The event had in attendance the creme de la creme of the judiciary in the state.
