The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is getting more complex even as  the Benue State Chapter of the party dismisses story of his suspension,  while a State High Court in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Monday  restrained the embattled PDP,  Dr Iyorchia Ayu from parading himself as chairman of the party pending the determination of the substantive suit now  adjourned to April 17, 2023 for hearing.


dailyledger.com.ng reports that one Terhide Utaan, listed as the plaintiff and a member of the PDP obtained the restraining order from  Justice W. I Kpochi of State High Court, Makurdi


Addressing journalists in Makurdi thereafter, Utaan  said following the suspension of Ayu by his Igyorov Ward Exco on Sunday, it is wrong for him to keep parading himself as PDP's national chairman and further disunite the party.


Ayu's suspension was announced by Vangeryina Dooyum,  Secretary of  Igyorov Ward in a statement where Ayu was accused of anti-party activities in the wake of the party’s loss in the presidential election


However, in a reaction, Ayu's media aide, Simon Imobo-Tswam, the former lawmaker argued that the ward lacked the powers to suspend the National Chairman


Another  twist has emerged in the drama as Benue   PDP  on Monday denied the letter of suspension, saying that the signatures of those who signed the suspension letter were forged. 


In a letter addressed to the PDP, Chairman in Gboko LGA of Benue State, some  executive members of Igyorov Ward explained that they never endorsed Ayu’s suspension for any reason.



 The Ward leaders in their letter which was signed by the Ward deputy Chairman, Ortese Helen, and 15 others wondered at the development which they argued was never contemplated before or after the election. 




“The purported signatures on the letter are forged and no member of PDP Executive Committee of Igyorov Council Ward have signed that letter nor caused to be signed on his or her behalf. The names of the Executive Committee Members are wrongly written and spelled which show the desperation of the mischief makers. 

The application seeking to restrain Ayu was supported by a 15 paragraph affidavit annexed as exhibits. The suit was subsequently adjourned to April  17 for hearing
