The House of Assembly-elect for Ikwuano State Constituency, Engr Boniface Isienyi on Thursday applauded Opinion and  Thought leaders in his  Constituency for what he described as a 're-affirmation of the mandate given him on March 18, 2023', even as he appeals to all who contested in the race with him to collaborate with him in fashioning and executing projects that emphasizes the Ikwuano First Agenda


The House of Assembly member-elect while responding to a question from Dailyledger.com.ng  proffered clarifications on  reports on the social media that he  dared the PDP candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon Stanley Nwabuisi to go to court to contest the outcome of the March 18 House of Assembly election.


"Let me say my message was misrepresented. Few days after I was returned winner of the election, I personally invited all co-contenders in the election for a get-together at NRCRI Guest House, Umudike. Nine of them honoured my invitation as well as other Ikwuano stakeholders. The objective of that meeting was for me to personally extend my hand of fellowship to them, to appeal that we all work together as a team in the interest of Ikwuano. I also wanted us all to allign our different campaign promises how we can all push it forward for Ikwuano's well-being


"We also discussed the idea of aggrieved persons going to Court over the election and the consensus from that meeting is to appeal to such aggrieved parties to embrace peace and oneness of Ikwuano. After these efforts, I could not have again challenged him to go to Court. There is a kind of representation somewhere, but let me affirm here that am still seeking to meet with him


"Though I tried to reach him, I have not spoken with Hon Nwabuisi since after the election, but I have tried severally to reach him and I am still trying to reach him, he replied to another question.


" Outside of politics, we are brothers, from the same village, that I contested with him is one of the wonders of politics. But then even before he started, I have been contesting for the House of Assembly seat, this is my third attempt


"Let me say emphatically that Hon Nwabuisi has earned his stripes in politics. He has invaluable contributions to make for Ikwuano's development. Personally, am willing to learn from him, and from others who have passed this road before, which is why I also invited all former House members to that meeting.  The business of Ikwuano is for all Ikwuano people, I have only been called to serve the people for now", he maintained. 


Engr Isienyi further added that he is overwhelmed by the voices from the length and breadth of Ikwuano, across political and party divide appealing to Hon Nwabuisi to reconsider instigating a post-election litigation.


Asked how he would respond if Nwabuisi summons him to court to defend his mandate, Isienyi contends that he would do what is necessary.


"If you followed the politics in Ikwuano pre and post-election, you would agree with me that the vote for Labour Party in Ikwuano and Abia State in general is an expression of the people's wishes and desires, like the cliche says the   'voice of the people is the voice of God", he affirmed.
