Senator Godswill Akpabio has continued to receive widespread support for the coveted office of the Senate President, as the days inch closer to the inauguration of the National Assembly, post May 29, 2023.


The Good Governance Support group for GOA, GGSGOA, a non-governmental organization, whose sole mission is to support and project His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio to emerge as the President of the 10th Senate of the Federal republic of Nigeria, has described Senator Akpabio as the ‘best candidate for the exalted office’.


In a communiqué released after its recent extraordinary Board meeting, Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Abuja, lauded and appreciated the All Progressives Congress, APC and the National Working Committee, NWC of the Party for recognizing excellence and publicly announcing Senator Akpabio as the ‘preferred candidate for the position of Senate President from the South South zone’.


Describing Akpabio as ‘roundly experienced, competent and qualified for the position, having served variously as Minority Leader in the 8th Senate, Minister of the Federal Republic, Governor of Akwa Ibom State (2007-2015) and Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State, the group asserted that the 10th Senate stood to gain from the vast experience of Senator Akpabio in public service, administration and policy formulation.


While extending their appreciation to other Senators who have thrown their weight behind the cause, the group wished Senator Akpabio Godspeed in his quest, while promising Nigerians to expect a very focused and uncommon leadership in the legislative arm of government.


The group has as her National Coordinator, Dr John Harry, while the quartet of Hon. Patty Etete Inemeh, Hon. Lateef Olawumi, Hon. M. B. Makama and Mr. Udo Silas, serve as her National Board Chairman, Deputy National Coordinator, National Secretary and National Media Adviser, respectively.


Her Board Members include; Rt Hon Nasiru Babale Ila, Hon. Jim Audu, Hon. Martins Azubike, Hon. Ogunleye Olugbemi Gbolabo, Princess Nelly Akpan, Hon. Indutimi Komonibo, Adede Kufre Inima, Hon. Ben India Garba,  and Hon. Chris Etta. Messer’s Aniefiok Ntoop and Henry Okon, serve as Head of Secretariat and Deputy Head of Secretariat respectively.
