Dr Alex Otti of  Labour Party (LP) was on Monday sworn in as  5th  executive governor of Abia State.


The Abia governor speaking shortly after his swearing-in said he inherited from Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, liabilities of N250billion comprising debts and  unpaid salaries, pensions and gratuities.


 Otti warned that his government will have zero tolerance for  corruption, and will ensure the payment of workers’ salaries on or before 28th of every month


“We’ll treat all workers in the state as equal and none will be denied salary while the other will be paid by government as it was done by the immediate past administration", he said.


He further added that Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state would be given a renewal programme that will make it  the centre piece of commerce and industry in Africa


 He further disclosed that  a N10billion micro-finance scheme will be established by government immediately.


The  swearing in ceremony held at the Umuahia Township Stadium which was witnessed by a large crowd also attracted personalities including former Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe, the Vice Presidential Candidate of Labour Party who stood in for Mr Peter Obi, Dr Dayton Baba Ahmed, former governor of the state and Senator representing Abia Central in the Senate, TA Orji, Senator, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, former Emir of Kano, Dr Sanusi and several others
