The 2023 Annual Conference of the NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law,  NBA-SPIDEL billed for June 20-23,   at Citadel Complex, Oregun promises to be an intellectual feast featuring not only  eminent jurists from the Bar/Bench, but also political heavyweights including governors of Lagos and Abia States, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and  Dr. Alex Otti respectively and several others.


The conference which features the constitutional lawyer/human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana SAN as Guest Speaker  has   "Post-Election Nigeria: The Judiciary in the eye of the storm" as it's theme


Another foremost  human rights activist and former NBA President, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba will chair the opening session.


In a release from the NBA-SPIDEL's Secretariat, it was noted that bDr. Agbakoba has the singular honour of establishing NBA-SPIDEL during his Presidency. 


Also featuring as Guest Speaker for the Opening Ceremony is the Supreme Court judge, Hon. Justice Amina Augie 


Also expected at the Opening Ceremony are the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola;   Senators and House of Representatives members.


The technical sessions will witness the presence of leading jurists and speakers such as Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN; Prof. Pat Utomi,;  Mr. Austin Alegeh SAN; Chief J-K Gadzama SAN;  Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN;  Mr. Olumide Akpata;  Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN; and NBA President Yakubu Maikyau SAN.


Others expected at the event include Ms. Boma Alabi, SAN;  Prof. Paul Ananaba SAN; Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN;  Mr. Samson  Itodo, (YIAGA Africa);   Mr. Festus Okoye, (INEC);   Justice Taiwo Taiwo (rtd.); Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe; Ebun Adegboruwa,  SAN;  Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri; Mr. Gilbert Tor;  Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, among many others too numerous to mention here.


"We believe that our Guest Speakers will adequately interrogate the theme of the Conference which bothers on the judiciary's intervention in the electoral process. Presently, all eyes are fixed at the various Election Petition tribunals where those who were aggrieved with the outcome of the 2023: General Elections are ventilating their grievances lawfully and seeking judicial redress.

"Instructively, this would be the last conference of Dr M.O. Ubani  as the Chairman of the Section", the section stated in the release signed by Dr Ubani and Chairman of Conference Planning Committee, Mr Okey Ohagba
